Invert Adventure 2020
Invertebrates can tell us a lot about the health of our environment, and some of them are down-right amazing in their own right. From rainbow caterpillars to sneaky cuckoo wasps, Invert Adventures will give you a taste of the life of an entomologist.
Time & Location
15 Feb 2020, 9:00 am – 16 Feb 2020, 5:00 pm
QTFN Aroona, 338 Alpers Rd, Mount Mort QLD 4340, Australia
About the event
In this first camp-out as part of the C4RE (Caring 4 Refuge Ecology) partnership between Ecology Group and Queensland Trust for Nature we will be searching for all the small things. Invertebrates (animals without a back bone) can teach us a lot about a landscape, and are amazing micro-beasts in their own right.
This year we are surveying QTFN's own Aroona Station - a flagship cattle and conservation enterprise snuggled up at the end of the Little Liverpool Range. The site is only accessible by invitation, and is a vital refuge for Brush-tail Rock Wallabies, Koalas, threatened granite-belt plants like the Bailey's Cypress Pine and threatened semi-evergreen dry rainforest.
Come along in the daylight for activities led by experts ranging from guided walks to microscope identification labs. Then pitch your tent and camp out under the beautiful open skies of the Little Liverpool Range by night, hanging out by the fire enjoying a fully catered farm dinner.
This event is open to everyone from expert to amateur. This is a family and LGBTQI+ friendly event.
